Responsibilities: Provide software development and technical support for a machine shop environment, focusing on the Manufacturing Enterprise Resource Planning (MERP) system. This role assumes responsibilities as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and administrator for the MERP Software Package, while also developing and maintaining SQL and MS Access-based solutions to optimize production processes, inventory control, and operational efficiency.
MERP Software Development & Machine Shop Support: Develop, maintain, and enhance software solutions for the MERP system to support machine shop operations, including production scheduling, inventory tracking, and job costing. Provide technical expertise in system analysis, design, development, and implementation to ensure efficiency, scalability, and reliability within a machine shop environment. Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve software and system integration with manufacturing processes.
M1 Software Package SME & Administrator: Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) and administrator for the MERP Software Package, ensuring optimal functionality for machine shop workflows. Support users by managing configurations, overseeing software updates, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring proper system integrations with production equipment and inventory management systems. Develop technical documentation and best practices for system use, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
SQL & MS Access Development for Manufacturing Operations: Design, develop, and maintain SQL databases to support MERP and other business applications. Create queries, stored procedures, triggers, and views to enhance data-driven decision-making for production, inventory control, and job scheduling. Develop and maintain MS Access applications, including form development, automation, and database management, to improve shop floor operations. Ensure seamless integration between SQL, MS Access, and MERP systems to optimize manufacturing processes. Analyze database performance and implement optimizations for improved scalability and efficiency.
Technical Leadership & Collaboration: Interface with machine shop leadership, production teams, and other stakeholders to review operational objectives, assess functional needs, and propose logical and creative solutions. Establish a technical vision for system development, ensuring best practices are documented and implemented. Analyze trade-offs between usability, performance, and constraints, making informed recommendations to enhance manufacturing efficiency. Conduct working meetings to demonstrate progress, review priorities, and align technical solutions with machine shop objectives. Mentor team members by providing guidance on software development best practices, SQL database management, and MS Access development.
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in Computer Science, Information Management Systems, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum three (3) years of experience in business application analysis, system design, networked environments, SQL development, including database design, queries, stored procedures, and performance optimization. Experience in MS Access development, including form automation, database management, and integration with other platforms. Experience working in or supporting manufacturing, machining, or industrial production environments is preferred.
Other: Proficiency in modern programming languages such as Python, Java, and C# to enhance system integration and automation. An Active Secret Security Clearance is required.
Wage Range Information: This full-time position’s wage range is $65K - $95K (salary) depending on experience and qualifications.
